Three passes on a fast piste.
Three passes at speed on flat, open ground. A piste like this asks for a high pace held over a long stretch, and the dust drawing out behind each pass is what the next rider has to ride into.
Speed on open ground is one half of a special stage. The other half is the roadbook, which runs on the navigation course.
