Rallye du Maroc: a Junior podium in Zagora.

Rallye du Maroc finished in Zagora on 3 October. Konrad Dąbrowski, the RTC coach racing for DUUST Rally Team, reached the finish third in the Junior classification and fifteenth in Rally2. It was his first start in ORLEN OIL colours and his first rally-raid since the Dakar in January.

The fourth round of the World Rally-Raid Championship covered more than 2,600 km, including 1,530 km of special stages over stones, sand and dunes. Konrad opened the rally with fifth place in Rally2 in the prologue, as the fastest Junior and the best non-factory rider. An illness slowed him in the days that followed, but he held a steady pace all the way to the finish, treating the rally as preparation for the Dakar and a return to race rhythm.

It was a difficult rally for me, the first since the crash in Portugal. I rode very well in the prologue, but later in the rally I had health problems and did not have much strength left. We knew this event would be another step in the preparation for the Dakar and a return to race rhythm. We know what we want to improve and how, so that I feel better at the next start. I am happy that despite all of this I completed the whole rally and took third place among the Juniors.

The bivouac is where the rally lives between stages. The parc ferme fills with motorcycles and cars after each finish, and the service park works into the evening.

In the Ziz Oasis, palm groves fill the valley floor between the villages and the dry plateau rises above them. The Ziz valley runs towards Er Rachidia, where the Morocco Desert Experience begins.
